POSSIBLES

As we live through these times of war, famine, starvation, global warming, climate change, racial discrimination, world and local political tension it is good to note the hope in which a few people have in the ability of nature to cure its own diseases.

I continue to believe in the possibilty of things changing for the better...

The possibilty of all oppressed people from Tibet to Chechnya getting freedom without bloodshed and violence in...

The possibility of the end of the violence and pull out of foreign troops from Iraq...

The possibilty of the lack of nuclear military ability in Iran that George Bush continues to live in fear of...

The possibilty of the end of dictatorship and lifetime rulership being perpetuated in African countries...

The posssibilty of the end of indiscriminate racial attack such as the Jena 6 crisis...

The possibilty that the black man Sen. Obama would be elected into office as President of the United States of America just for the fact that he is eligible for the job and not lose the elections because he is a black man...
the possibility of an end to the wars in Somalia and Sudan...
the possibility of govenments spending more on health care and welfare rather than military technology...

The possiblity that a cartoon in Denmark would not cause religious violence targeted to Christians in Muslim dominated countries all around the world...

The possibilty of a Palestinian state existing side be side with Israel...

The possibility of Osama Bin Laden being caught and tried in an international court...

The possibility of a month going by in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with a kidnapping case and blowing up of pipelines that carry gas to generate Power...

The possibilty of going through a month in any location in Nigeria without a loss of power...

The possibilty of being treated fairly at the British or American Embassy without having an bank account with more than i can normally never afford...

The possibilty of celebrating 10 years of no strike in the Nigerian tertiary education institutions...

The possibility of of expressing myself like this without fear of be hated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOLA!!!

Hi!! it sounded so soft and sweet, her voice. Like a soldier called by his superior officer i turned to see this dame with the cutest smile i had seen in a life that was 21 and running.

Hi! was my response, with no idea what word(s) would come through my shaking lips at a time when the best would be required to hold up a conversation of any sort with her. Looking into those eyes of hers that burnt holes through mine all the way down to my spine, i saw beauty unmatched by the tales of Cindarella and Snow White. It took forever for my eyes to get a grip with her lips and what they let through as she began to initiate another round of lines in what seemed to be a moment of being struck by the unexpected magic of her presence.

"Do you mind getting me a drink"? It couldnt have been better, her request, cos it did seem like i was going to get some time with her. All sorts of scenarios played up in my distorted mind, and its was the most realistic that got a vote of confidence, just walk through this easy and see where it gets you with her tonight.

"Sure you won't mind a Chapman"? Yes she said, as she gracefully made a swirl of her head like one of those hair product ads on t.v revealing the well treated long hair she had. In the shortest time possible the bar tender had the drink in my hands and i gave him a look to disapprove of any other spectacular service that would draw her attention to this good looking dude behind the counter. What would you do, if you were in my seat, cos i had lost feelings in my shoes, so it seems you could not get into my shoes at this time.

"I like the calmness i'v seen you definitely possess", she said this with some sort of confidence that could only come with an intense and long observation, that i guess came from the other end of the bar where the light was dim and made good for spoting a cheating wife in the aplomb of her flirty moment in the arms of a foolish lover. "Thanks". Another one liner at this time when the most accurate response would require a lot more words to strike the right chord.

It didnt take long for my first punch line to come through, "You have the most enchanting eyes i'v set mine on". A smile to pass approval was displayed on that cute face of hers and a confident response, "I know, cos i own them". " My names Lola and i guess you have one too"? "Uche, Uche Ugorji" Thanks to
the Ian Flemming inspired James Bond movies i had watched over time, i suddenly had this confidence that the toothpaste ads continue to tell us we would have when we apply them to brush all kinds of teeth. "I am going straight to the point. I have had the worst month of my life and all sorts of things have happened to me in the period." "I caught my boyfriend cheating on me twice, i came back from the most intense training workshop my employers sent me on yet and i made money i can not think of spending in 10 years, would you indulge me by giving me a nice time out tonight and maybe you'll get sex and the most intricate details of my life".

Knock! Knock!! Knock!!! Oh my God! Who in this world would wake me up at this time? It just hit me, it was just a dream! The voice that accompanied the knock on the door was unmistakablely that of my little cousin. "What is it i barked"? Still unsure why she would put an end to the this dream of dreams on a warm afternoon. "Uncle, its the gateman, he said the new neighbour would like to get to know you. Uncle she is pretty and i like her". Was she suggesting approval of this person from out of the blues without recourse to the fact that she had disapproved of three of the last women i came home with!? In amazement i raced her down to the living room downstairs and lo and behold those eyes!!!

"Hello, my name is Lola.............."
